We started NRI Voices because we needed it ourselves.
We are a bunch of engineers who left India a few years ago and are living abroad now, building careers, chasing opportunities, trying to make life work in countries far away from home.
From the outside, everything can look fine. Good jobs. New cities. Better opportunities. But living away from home comes with things people don't always see.
There are moments of loneliness. Family pressure. Relationship struggles. Visa stress. Career anxiety. Missing home. Feeling guilty for not being there. Watching friends go through difficult situations. Watching family members deal with things from thousands of miles away.
And then there are the good moments too: new friendships, small wins, love, growth, independence, and the strange feeling of building a second life somewhere else.
We realized we were all carrying stories.
Some were ours. Some belonged to friends. Some were things we had witnessed. Some were things we wanted to say but didn't know who to say them to.
Sometimes the issue felt too sensitive to talk about openly. Sometimes we didn't want advice. Sometimes we just wanted to say it somewhere and feel a little lighter.
That's why we created NRI Voices.
A space for the things NRIs think about, experience, struggle with, laugh about, and rarely say out loud.
No perfect lives. No pretending.
Just real stories from people living between countries, cultures, families, expectations, and different versions of themselves.
If you have a story, a confession, a thought, a struggle, or even a happy moment you want to share, this space is for you.
And if you're just here to read and realize someone else is going through the same thing. That's enough too.
Welcome to NRI Voices.
